The Hillcrest

Of historical significance in Albertan and Canadian history, the Hillcrest Mine Disaster in 1914 is Canada's largest mine disaster, having a profound effect on this small mining community in the Crowsnest Pass.  Condolences poured in from across Canada and from King George V for the devastated families and children left without fathers.  Today, the ruins of Hillcrest Mine have been overtaken by the surrounding mountain forest, accessible from walking and mountain biking trails.  An immaculate monument on the workers' mass graves gives visitors the opportunity to pay tribute to Hillcrest's prosperous beginnings and remember its tragic end.

A touch of history translated for formal, traditional or eclectic living and work spaces.
